What’s Happening…

FROM DML
> RATING THE DEBATE:
JD VANCE MISSED OPPORTUNITIES
The debate last night showcased two things: (1) Tim Walz is more cunning that we thought, (2) Vance is extremely articulate and cool under fire. Unfortunately, it did not turn out to be the sort of victory we needed to move the needle with independent and undecided voters. Vance miscalculated what his nice and friendly approach would deliver. A panel of seven undecided voters who watched the debate remain undecided with the exception of one, who said he would vote Harris / Walz because of how Vance answered about January 6. Vance failed to position Walz as a communist-styled leader who lies whenever given the chance. Instance, the VP candidate often agreed with the Minnesota governor, and appeared more interested in finding common ground than he was destroying the chances for Walz to become the victor. I give Vance at B.

Happy Birthday to Denny.
My oldest child turns 29 today, and I have no idea how we arrived here? How did my son get so old? Take a glance at the photo above, Denny was 5 years old. Regardless of how time passes, I must say it has been the honor of my life being his dad. Denny, like all of my kids, is an absolute joy to be around. He is honest, polite, proud, and always centered on family and God. He loves America, and he is becoming a great podcast host. The only area where he needs improvement is in his golf game. For his birthday, I bought him lessons with a top golf teaching pro here in Indian River County. Tonight, Mary will make a big dinner of his choice. We love you Denny, enjoy your birthday.

FROM DENNY
> RATING THE DEBATE:
JD WAS STRONG
What a night! Based on polling and output following the debate between JD Vance and Tim Walz, the winner was clearly Vance. There were times I wish Vance hit harder, but for the most part, Vance held his ground, schooled Walz in policy and facts, and held a presidential demeanor. Vance also had to contend with the bias of the moderators and held them back perfectly; seriously, what was up with Norah O’Donnell’s attitude?

I believe the strategy is to make Vance appeal more to the Independent voter rather than a full MAGA supporter and even try to be the candidate who wins over voters who have been weary of Trump. Overall, I think Vance scores a B+ but is only a tad shy of a full A.

FROM RYAN
>RATING THE DEBATE:
VANCE WAS STRONG, BUT COULD HAVE DONE BETTER
We had a great crowd last night on TeamDML, with over 2,000 live viewers. Unfortunately, our LIVE chat cannot accommodate that many people, and so many were shut out of the chat. We are trying to upgrade the chat box before the election night coverage we plan to offer.

I agree mostly with Denny. The debate winner was Vance. He didn’t hit homeruns, but he was definitely scoring more points than Walz. I also note that Walz was weird and wacky at the beginning of the debate. Thought he was maybe even on drugs. I agree with my dad when saying the senator could have been a bit more vocal about Walz and his lies. Overall, I give Vance a B+.

ASK DML on THURSDAY
Tomorrow’s podcast is an ASK DML episode. If you have questions for my dad, email them to me at ryan@TeamDML.com

THANKS TO KIM
On behalf of Denny and Dad, I want to say thanks to TeamDML member Kim Donnelly for participating in the debate coverage last night. My dad called her on the phone and asked for her insight on the debate. She did great.

TRUMP CANCELS 60-MINUTES

TRUMP 2024

Written by Denny

President Donald Trump demanded an apology from “60 Minutes” for dismissing The Post’s Hunter Biden laptop story back in 2020 and made it clear that he won’t be participating in an interview with the show until he receives one. Speaking to reporters in Milwaukee, Trump said, “They came to me and would like me to do an interview, but first I want to get an apology because the last time I did an interview with them, they challenged me on the computer.” He added, “They said the laptop from hell was from Russia, and I said, ‘It wasn’t from Russia. It was from Hunter,’ and I never got an apology.”

The controversy stems from a 2020 interview with “60 Minutes” reporter Lesley Stahl, who declined to cover The Post’s Hunter Biden laptop story at the time, claiming it “couldn’t be verified.” However, CBS News confirmed the laptop’s authenticity 769 days after the initial report linked President Biden to Hunter Biden and brother Jim Biden’s foreign business dealings. Despite “60 Minutes” claiming that the Trump campaign had agreed to sit down for an interview scheduled to air on October 7th, Trump’s campaign spokesperson, Steven Cheung, labeled the claims as “Fake News.” He stated, “60 Minutes begged for an interview, even after they were caught lying about Hunter Biden’s laptop back in 2020.”

In response to this dispute, Trump reiterated his demand for an apology, but hinted that he remains open to an agreement: “I’d love to do ‘60 Minutes,’” Trump said, adding, “I’ve asked them for an apology. Let’s see if they do it.” Trump also took to Truth Social to criticize Vice President Kamala Harris following the vice presidential debate between his running mate, JD Vance, and Harris’s running mate, Gov. Tim Walz, saying, “Lyin’ Kamala just put out a request for another Debate because they lost so badly tonight...I’ll MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, she’s incapable of it!”

Hurricane Kamala

HARRIS 2024

Written by DML

Biden and Harris are finally heading to areas devastated by Hurricane Helene on Wednesday—72 hours after Trump visited the stricken communities and provided immediate aid. Trump wasted no time in traveling to the affected region with a Christian charity organization, bringing essential supplies such as food, water, and fuel to support those struggling in the aftermath of the storm.

In stark contrast, Biden’s delayed response has drawn significant criticism, particularly given his planned itinerary. Instead of engaging directly with the people on the ground, Biden’s visit will consist of a helicopter flyover of the flood-ravaged city of Asheville, North Carolina—one of the areas hardest hit by Hurricane Helene’s destructive path through the Southeast. He is also expected to stop by a rescue command center but hasn’t indicated any plans for direct interaction with affected residents.

Meanwhile, Harris, is opting to visit Georgia separately. This decision has fueled speculation about a lack of unity and coordination within the administration, as well as a general lack of empathy for the Americans suffering through the aftermath.

The criticism mounted when a reporter confronted Biden on Monday about his delayed response. The reporter asked, “On the hurricane, Mr. President, why weren’t you and Vice President Harris here in Washington commanding this this weekend?”

Biden, visibly irritated, snapped back: “I was commanding. I was on the phone for at least two hours yesterday and the day before as well. I command. It’s called a telephone.” His defensive retort further showcased the administration’s disconnect and lack of urgency compared to Trump’s swift action.

With more than 70 people dead in North Carolina alone and the death toll rising across other Southeastern states, Biden’s helicopter flyover and Harris’s separate visit is yet another example of the late and lame responses of the Biden-Harris administration when it comes to hard-hitting disasters… remember the Maui fires?

ALSO: Gov. Walz, was loaded with gaffes last night at the vice presidential debate, such as when he declared he has “become friends with school shooters.” Read more here

III: BORDERLESS

GANGSTER?

Mexico's New Leader

Mexico’s incoming president, Claudia Sheinbaum, was once a member of the M-19 guerrilla group, according to Colombian President Gustavo Petro.

Petro, a former leader of the same organization, made the surprising claim during a press conference in Mexico while attending Sheinbaum’s swearing-in ceremony. He noted that with both of them now in office, two former M-19 members had risen to become presidents.

Sheinbaum is set to become Mexico's first female president, succeeding Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, founder of the populist Morena Party. She has previously highlighted her activism during her university years, including a 1991 photo showing her holding a "Democracy Now" poster.

However, Petro’s recent claim marks the first allegation linking Sheinbaum to the M-19 guerrilla group, a militant organization that transitioned into a political party in the 1990s. According to Proceso, Colombia’s Vice-Chancellor Jorge Rojas also stated that Sheinbaum, though young at the time, supported M-19 by providing refuge to its members who fled to Mexico.

The M-19 guerrilla group terrorized Colombia in the 1980s through kidnappings, murders, and terrorist attacks, including involvement in drug trafficking while claiming to fight for democracy. One of their most notorious actions was the 1985 Palace of Justice siege, where they took the Colombian Supreme Court hostage. A military rescue attempt led to over a dozen judges being killed during the operation. This group, which later transitioned into a political party, has been tied to these violent acts before their disarmament in the 1990s.

ALSO: A large group of illegal aliens from the Middle East, who are suspected of having ties to terrorism, were just caught Monday morning trying to sneak across the southern border into the United States. Read more here…
