THE BIG STORY: H1B VISAS
Mega-rich businessman Elon Musk loves the H1B program. So much so that he wrote many disturbing and mean-spirited messages on his X platform Friday, most of them targeting those of us who want to end the fraud-ridden H1B visa program. One message that he reportedly wrote was, “F**k yourself in the face.”
The vulgar and sophomoric statement underscores his questionable support for the anti-American H1B visa program. Musk sees the program as crucial for bringing skilled hi-tech workers to the U.S. to support technology businesses including his electric car company. Musk’s Tesla reportedly employees more than 700 workers via the H1B program.
Musk's comments have sparked a divide; his supporters argue for the economic benefits of such visas, while critics like me question the impact on local job markets and the integrity of the visa system itself.
Government data proves the program is abused, with many companies using it to find cheap labor outside the realm of hi-tech. Although designed to bring in the best and brightest programmers and engineers, many big companies get away with hiring foreigners who serve as cooks, teachers, accountants, and project managers for a fraction of what they’d pay Americans.
Trump, who in the past has promised to kill the program, in a twist of rhetoric this weekend said he now supports H1B. He went as far as saying he “loves” the program and uses it all the time. He was later corrected by his own team who claim the president does not use the H1B program to hire employees for his companies.
Trump and Musk are being pressed by some of the most loyal MAGA supporters who are not willing to bend when it comes to defending American workers. Myself, Steve Bannon, and many others with respectable followings have tweeted stats and facts that counter Musk’s support of H1B. I for one will not conform to Musk. He is not a god. He is an immigrant who was invited into this country, and he has done very well as a result. I appreciate the value he ads to the United States, but I am not going to turn a blind eye because he dines with Trump at Mar-A-Largo.
The H1B program needs to end, immediately. Trump needs to revisit his prior statements, and his promise to end H1B. It is our job to remind him of his promises, and to push back with an urgency that Trump should ignore Musk and listen to the people who voted him into office. We did not elect Elon to the White House, we voted for Trump and America First.
When Trump learns that 80% of the X users want H1B to be eliminated, my hope is Trump will distance himself from the tech maven. The love affair between the two has taken a path that is best described as “weird.”
I double down: Trump needs to get off Truth Social and spend a little time on X. If he does, he will see the X platform was overrun this weekend with negative comments about Musk’s position on H1B. It reflects the first break in the love affair between MAGA and multi-billionaire. Although we all appreciate his sudden love for Trump and all things MAGA, Trump and his supporters must never forget that Musk has a history of supporting liberal ideology, he is not American born, and he voted for Biden. We should all sleep with one eye open.
TOP TEN STORIES for SUNDAY DEC 29
Court Orders Biden Admin to Stop Selling Border Wall Materials
A federal judge has ruled in favor of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, ordering the Biden administration to cease selling off border wall materials. The materials, initially intended for constructing the border wall under former President Trump, were being sold off in what was described as an illegal subversion of existing laws. Texas argued that these actions not only contravened federal statutes but also undermined national security measures. This decision marks a significant legal victory for border security advocates, potentially reigniting debates over border policy and the use of federal assets.Trump's Push for TikTok Ban Gains Momentum
President Trump is once again advocating for a ban on TikTok in the U.S., citing national security concerns over data privacy and Chinese government influence. His renewed push comes at a time when public and congressional scrutiny of the app has intensified. The debate centers on whether TikTok, owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, poses a threat through its data collection practices. Proponents of the ban argue for safeguarding American users' information, while critics highlight the platform's role in free speech and cultural exchange, questioning the feasibility and implications of such a ban.NY Special Election Heats Up with Stefanik, Jones, and McLaughlin
The race to replace Rep. Elise Stefanik in upstate New York has turned into a battleground for political influence. Candidates Billy Jones and McLaughlin are at the forefront, each bringing different visions for the district. This special election could serve as a bellwether for national political trends, especially with Stefanik's endorsement potentially swaying conservative voters. Both candidates are focusing on local issues like economy and healthcare, but the national implications of this race are evident, with eyes on how this might affect the balance of power in Congress.Healthcare Workers Fined $190,000 for Challenging Vaccine Mandate
In a notable legal battle, healthcare workers at the University of California have been fined $190,000 for challenging the institution's vaccine mandate. This case highlights the ongoing tension between personal freedoms and public health policies. The workers argued against the mandate on medical and religious grounds, but the court upheld the university's right to enforce such measures. This ruling might set a precedent for similar cases across the country, raising questions about the balance between individual rights and collective safety.Convicted Sex Offender Anthony Weiner Runs for NYC Council
Anthony Weiner, previously convicted of sexting minors, has announced his candidacy for a New York City Council seat. His campaign has reignited debates about rehabilitation, public trust, and the appropriateness of convicted individuals in public office. Weiner's past has not deterred him from public life, as he aims to focus on local issues, but his run has certainly drawn criticism from those questioning his moral standing to represent constituents.Paul Bamba, Boxer, Dies in Ring - Leaves a Legacy
Tragedy struck the boxing world as Paul Bamba, a promising fighter, passed away following a match where he was attempting to claim a title once held by Mike Tyson. Bamba's death has sparked discussions about safety in boxing, particularly regarding the medical checks and the physical toll of the sport. His record and potential had marked him as a future star, and his untimely death is a somber reminder of the risks athletes face in pursuit of glory.South Korea Plane Crash Details Emerge
A tragic incident unfolded at Muan International Airport in South Korea where a Jeju Air flight veered off the runway, resulting in a deadly crash. The Boeing 737-800, carrying 181 passengers, reportedly failed to deploy its landing gear upon landing. The plane subsequently collided with a concrete wall at the runway's end, leading to an explosion. Initial reports confirmed 23 deaths, but the number of fatalities has since escalated to at least 167, with only two survivors. This incident has sparked a conversation about airport safety measures and the design of runway ends, particularly the use of less forgiving barriers like concrete walls.Israeli Intelligence and Hezbollah's Leadership
In a significant development in the ongoing tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, Israeli intelligence is believed to have played a crucial role in the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. This operation, conducted in the midst of heightened regional conflict, was seen as a strategic move by Israel to dismantle Hezbollah's top-tier leadership. The assassination has stirred international reactions, with some seeing it as a "measure of justice" for past terrorist activities linked to Nasrallah, while others warn of potential escalation. The U.S. has expressed cautious support for Israel's right to self-defense but emphasized the importance of diplomacy to prevent broader regional conflict.Biden's Electoral Regrets
Joe Biden has reportedly expressed regret over his decision to leave the presidential race, believing he would have defeated Donald Trump in the upcoming election. This revelation comes from sources close to Biden, who noted his confidence in his previous governance and policy achievements. Despite withdrawing from the race and endorsing Kamala Harris, Biden's recent statements suggest lingering doubts about the Democratic Party's strategy and his personal impact on the electorate. This has fueled discussions within political circles about the implications for the Democratic campaign moving forward.China's Limited Retaliation Against U.S. Tariffs
As trade tensions continue between the U.S. and China, analysts have noted that China has limited options for countering the recent U.S. tariffs. The Wall Street Journal reports that China's economic recovery is already under strain, and aggressive retaliatory measures could further destabilize its economy. China's approach has been more about selective retaliation, focusing on high-profile U.S. exports, while also seeking to negotiate through diplomatic channels. This cautious strategy reflects China's current economic vulnerabilities and its desire to avoid a full-blown trade war that could lead to significant domestic repercussions.
